A child retrieved from the lake receives CPR

A young child died despite CPR after falling into the water at Lake Bonaventure. According to Calgary Fire Department spokesperson Carol Henke, the emergency crews were called to the lake located in the southeast of the city.

Dangers in the water

The family members or bystanders were delivering CPR on the 15-month old child when the emergency crews arrived within 2 minutes of the call to the 911 dispatchers.

Upon arrival, the emergency crews took over with the resuscitation efforts as they transported the child to a healthcare facility. It was not determined how long the child was underwater.
