Edmonton seeing 97% compliance rate on mandatory face masks

Face masks or coverings have been mandatory in all indoor public spaces and on public transit in Edmonton since the start of August. The city stated that the overall compliance rate sits at 97%.

The compliance of the bylaw on public transit is around 96% while compliance in vehicles for hire is around 93%. As for compliance within public spaces, it is 99% and compliance within the community and recreational facilities is 97%.

Face masks or coverings have been mandatory in all indoor public spaces and on public transit in Edmonton since the start of August.

The city’s mask exemption card program was halted within 5 days of its launch. The cards were offered at city rec centers at the start of August, shortly after the face mask bylaw came into effect.
