An Edmonton man died despite delivery of CPR by bystanders in Okanagan Lake. According to police, the 25-year old Edmonton man drowned while swimming in the lake.
Dangers in the water
The West Kelowna RCMP and paramedics responded to a report of a possible drowning at a campground. The emergency crews took over from bystanders who pulled the man from the lake and were performing CPR. Sadly, the young man died at the scene.
According to Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, the man was swimming when he suddenly went under the water and did not resurface anymore. His family screamed for help. The RCMP would like to thank people who acted quickly to pull the man from the water and performed CPR.
The West Kelowna RCMP are helping the B.C. Coroners Service in the investigation.
