Mandatory mask bylaws spread to Cochrane and Airdrie

The mandatory mask orders have been implemented in another two communities neighboring Calgary, as case rates spike and hospitalizations continue to increase province-wide.

The council in Cochrane has set in motion its mask mandate for indoor spaces and public vehicles since active cases surpassed 10. The mayor is encouraging people to take COVID-19 seriously and follow public health guidelines closely to slow the spread.

The City of Airdrie introduced its mandatory mask bylaw on Friday with 239 active cases in the community.

The mayor of Airdrie stated that many people have been voluntarily wearing masks before the mandate, but many others have made their anti-mask opinions known to the city administration.
