Woman receives first aid after injured when garage door closed on her

A woman receives first aid care after sustaining injuries when a garage door closed on her in northwest Calgary. According to the statement by the EMS, a woman was rushed to a healthcare facility in critical condition after an incident at a Point McKay condo tower in northwest Calgary.

The emergency crews were called to Riverside Towers on Point McKay Crescent N.W. Based on the reports, an overhead door in the complex’s parkade closed on the woman who was in her 70s.

A vehicle was coming out and the woman attempted to go in while the door was coming down according to Carol Henke, Calgary Fire Department spokesperson.

The woman was hit and pinned by the door. Upon the arrival of the emergency crews, she was still pinned and had no pulse, and not breathing. The firefighters utilized hydraulic lifts to move the door and started CPR until the arrival of the EMS on the scene.

An investigation is on its way to figure out what led to the accident.
