Provincewide mask mandate relief in some rural communities

Fact Checked

Some rural officials share that they are relieved by Alberta’s new provincewide mask mandate. While some jurisdictions took matters into their own hands, many communities waited for the provincial government and chief medical officer of health to mandate masks.

High River council chose to leave it up to the province to implement a mask mandate, believing it to be the provincial government’s responsibility.

Masks became mandatory just over two weeks ago in High River when the province extended the mandate for the Calgary and Edmonton zones in its lineup of new measures.
